Dr William Smith - s/o John Smith & Mary Anna ___ of Salem; d 11 Aug 1833 ae 64; m 10 Mar 1805 Elizabeth Clark (d/o Jonathan Clark who came to Northwood from Statham in March 1773; she d 17 Mar 1843 ae 63; came to Northwood from Salen, and studied medicine with Dr Benjamin Kelley (also a native of Salem); Smith succeeded Kelley in Northwood when the later removed to Loudon in 1797; Dr Smith taught school in 1795 and 1796; he also taught singing schools, and led the choir in the Cong. church; he was town clerk for over 20 yrs. Children:
a) John - b 18 Dec 1805; m 7 Jul 1836 Mrs Pamelia Smith of Lowell MA (b 16 Nov 1813; d 16 Jan 1860); he was a merchant in Lowell MA for many years & d there 11 Jun 1877.
b) Susan L - b 19 Sep 1807; d 6 Oct 1872; m 2 Jan 1834 Jacob Graves (b 10 Jun 1807; d 17 Feb 1856).
c) Jonathan Clark - b 5 Sep 1800; d 22 Oct 1863; m Jan 1848 Eliza M Jackson (b 1819; d 26 Feb 1849).
d) George K - b 2 Oct 1811; m Fidelia Wilcox.
e) Mary A - b 24 Oct 1813; d 11 Feb 1850.
f) Elizabeth C - b 31 Jan 1816.
g) William - b 26 Mar 1818; m 18 Oct 1854 Helen H Baker (b 20 Aug 1832; lived Whitehall, NY with one son, William B (b 26 Nov 1856).

c) Juliette S - b 19 Nov 1848, a grad. of Coe Academy.
d) George H - b 8 Mar 1851; m Ellen Brown.
