William Stearns HAYES

FAMILY RECORD:
  William Stearns Hayes - b Madbury 14 Mar 1852; d 9 Apr 1926; s/o Reuben
Hayes Jr & Elizabeth A Chadwick; lived on the Pike farm in northern Madbury
which his parents moved to from another part of Madbury when he was a child;
attended school at Northwood Seminary, Pittsfield Academy & Wolfeboro Academy;
on 25 Dec 1875 he marr Martha M Hall of Barrington and settled on the homesead;
Selectman in Madbury 1882-1885, 1892-1899, 1903, 1912; member od School Board
1887-1901; also served the County as High Sheriff & Auditor.  Two sons: Harold
H Hayes resides on homestead in Madbury; Reuben Hayes of Chattanooga TN,
engineer in the Maintenance of Ways dept of the Southeaster District of the
Southern Railway [Madbury Annual Report].
